Forest tracks and coastal viewpoints, with photo stops.

E-BIKE THE GUINCHO COAST
A guided 2-hour ride on electric mountain bikes — forest tracks, Atlantic views, no driving licence needed.
Book at least 5 days ahead — we get the bikes ready for your group.
What you're signing up for
The e-bike tour is the quiet way onto our coast. You ride an electric mountain bike: you pedal, the motor adds a push, and the hills between Areia and the Guincho viewpoints stop being a problem. A local guide leads the whole way and sets a pace that suits the group.
We start at our office in Areia with a bike fitting and a short practice loop. From there the ride follows tracks through the pine forest of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and out to the viewpoints above Guincho beach and the Atlantic, with stops for photos and water.
One tour: 2 hours, €60 per person. No driving licence is needed, so it suits families with teenagers and anyone who would rather pedal than drive. Book at least 5 days ahead.
E-bike or quad — how to choose
Pick the e-bike if someone in your group has no driving licence, is under 18, or simply prefers something calmer than an engine. Riders from age 12 can come, each on their own bike. It is quiet: you hear the sea and the forest, and you can talk as you ride.
Pick a quad if you want speed, dust and an engine. Quad drivers need a car licence; passengers ride from age 12.
How hard is it?
Easier than a normal bike ride of the same length. The motor helps only while you pedal, up to 25 km/h, and you choose how much help you want. If you can ride a bicycle confidently, you can do this tour. The tracks are unpaved — packed earth, some sand and stones — so it is a real off-road ride, taken at an easy pace.

Before you book
+Do I need a driving licence for an e-bike?
No. These are pedal-assist bikes: the motor helps only while you pedal and stops helping at 25 km/h, so in Portugal they count as bicycles. No licence is needed.
+I've never ridden an e-bike — is that ok?
Yes. If you can ride a normal bicycle confidently, you can ride one of these. We fit the bike to you at the office and do a short practice loop before we set off, so you know the brakes, the gears and the assist levels.
+How fit do I need to be?
Ordinary fitness is enough. You still pedal, but the motor takes the effort out of the climbs and the headwind. The guide rides at the pace of the slowest rider and stops often.
+Can teenagers come?
Yes, from age 12 and at least 150 cm tall, each on their own bike. It is the tour we suggest for families with teenagers, who cannot drive a quad. For younger children the Jeep Sintra tour is the better fit.
+How far ahead should I book?
At least 5 days. We get the bikes ready for each group — the right sizes, charged batteries — so we do not take e-bike bookings at shorter notice. If you are here sooner, the quads and the guided walks can usually be booked 24–48 hours ahead.
+How many of us can come?
Couples, families and small groups. Tell us how many you are and each rider's height when you enquire, so the right bikes are waiting for you.
+Will the battery last the whole ride?
Yes. The 2-hour route is planned well inside the battery's range, hills and wind included.
+What if it rains?
We ride in light rain. In heavy rain the tracks get slippery, so we contact you the evening before and move the ride to another day at no cost. Wind by itself is not a problem.
