About the tour
What you're signing up for
The buggies are our small fleet of two-seaters — same coastal trails as the quads, but you share the ride. Popular for couples, teenagers who don't want to split up, and anyone who prefers a passenger seat with a proper cage around it.
Availability is limited — we only run two buggies, so busy weekends can book out. Get in touch to check dates before you plan around them.
Same durations and prices as the quad tours below (per vehicle, driver + one passenger). The 1 h 30 tier adds the Praia do Abano photo stop, the 3 h takes in the full Sintra ridgeline.
Buggy or quad — how to choose
The buggies are two-seat off-road cars with a full roll cage and seatbelts — same power and same trails as our quads, but with the driver and passenger side-by-side instead of one person balancing a bike. If one person in your pair doesn't want to drive at all, or someone in your group is a nervous rider, this is the answer. Same €60 starting price, but that's per vehicle, not per person — so with two of you it's often cheaper than two quads.
Pick a quad if everyone in your group wants to be at the wheel or you like the fully-exposed dirt-bike feel. Pick a buggy if you want to share the ride, if you have a teenager who can't drive but wants to come along, or if the person you're going with just wants to enjoy the scenery. Mixed groups often book one buggy for the couple and quads for the rest.

Travelling from Lisbon by train? Take Cais do Sodré → Cascais (40 min), then a 10-minute Uber or taxi to Guincho (~€10).

Before you book
+Is the price per person or per buggy?
Per buggy — driver plus one passenger. With two people you're paying the same as one quad, so a buggy pair often works out cheaper than two quads.
+Do buggies go on the same trails as the quads?
Yes — coastal loop, Praia do Abano detour on the 1 h 30, Peninha viewpoint on the 2 h, full Sintra ridgeline on the 3 h. Same guide, same route.
+Can we swap driver mid-ride?
Yes, at any natural stop — photo spots, viewpoints, or a quick pull-over on the trail. Just let the guide know at the briefing so we can plan a swap point.
+Can a child come along?
Yes — passengers from age 12. The driver still needs a valid car licence. For younger children the Jeep Sintra tour is a better fit (no age restriction on passengers).
+How far ahead should I book?
We only run two buggies, so weekends in summer often book out a week or more ahead. Off-season and midweek, 24–48 hours is usually fine. Email us and we'll confirm availability the same day.
+How does a buggy compare to a quad on safety?
Both are guided, both include full helmet and safety gear, both covered by our insurance. The buggy has a roll cage and seatbelts; the quad has more open feel and you balance the vehicle yourself. Neither requires off-road experience — every tour starts with a briefing.
