SEVEN-DAY COASTAL OUTLOOK

Is it a Guincho day?

The coast rewards showing up. Guincho tours run in nearly all conditions — the wind's bite, the changing light, and trails carrying a little edge are what make the ride memorable. On rougher days Arlindo adapts the route to sheltered inland trails; on the rare truly unsafe day, we'll reschedule. Almost every day is a Guincho day — just confirm with Arlindo.

Family with young kids? Look for the family daymarker — those are the milder windows we'd suggest for children.

HOW WE CALL IT

The honest rules

A day is a Guincho day unless we hit one of four real limits: thunderstorm in the forecast, sustained wind above 40 km/h (or gusts above 55), heavy rain that turns trails to mud (over 20mm), or extreme temperatures. Everything else — including brisk wind, cool air, or a passing shower — we ride through, and the coast is usually the better for it.

A family day marker is stricter. We only flag it when the wind stays under 22 km/h, no rain is forecast, and the temperature is between roughly 14° and 32°C. Adults handle breezier weather comfortably; kids on the back deserve the mildest windows.

The forecast is a starting point, not the final answer. Arlindo checks coastal conditions himself the morning of your ride and calls if a reschedule serves you better. Eighteen years of local judgment beats any satellite reading.
